Amsterdam Shipyards is a private owned Company and is led by an experienced management team who are also the owners of the Company.

The experience of the team of more than 150 years is widely spread within the shipbuilding industry and is focused in Amsterdam Shipyards on the markets of inland vessels, dredging vessels, cruise vessels and yachts.

Chief Executive Officer

Arnold den Boon

Active in the maritime industry for more than 38 years. Arnold graduated as an electrical engineer and business administrator. During his career Arnold has been involved at the maritime electrical contractors side for the first 25 years. He has performed all possible operational and commercial functions. After this period Arnold was 11 years international active at several shipyards. Almost 7 years as CEO and 4 years as an Executive Sales & Marketing Director.
Chief Executive Officer

Mark Van Leijden

Active in the finance industry for 20 years. Mark graduated as MSc in Accounting, Auditing and Control followed by a post master graduation as certified public accountant (CPA) at the Erasmus University and the NBA (Koninklijke Nederlandse Beroepsorganisatie van Accountants). During his career Mark was involved in the financial auditing industry at KPMG for a period over 13 years. The main client-base was related to the large construction and industrial segment for mid-size and larger companies with an international basis. After this career Mark joined Royal IHC (one of his former clients of KPMG) in the group business control department and ultimately responsible for the Sales and Shipbuilding clusters.
Operational Manager

Joep Berghuis

After high school Joep started his maritime career with the Netherlands Marine Corps, the elite naval infantry corps of the Royal Netherlands Navy. After this Joep discovered a niche market in the trade and conversion of existing commercial vessels. This quickly changed into project management for newbuilding of ships for the inland-, seagoing- and yacht market. Joep has been involved in optimizing and organizing construction processes in the maritime industry at various shipyards in The Netherlands and internationally. The more than 20 years of experience has given him a large network and cooperation skills.
Dredge Engineer

Marcel Boor

Active in the maritime industry for more than 25 years. Marcel graduated as a mechanical engineer with a master in Dredging Technology. During his career Marcel has been involved in the dredging industry with a period active for the marine contractor Van Oord and the last 20 years for Royal IHC. Responsible for product management, design and estimating department, product development department, and sales. As a mechanical engineer Marcel has been actively responsible for concept designs for various types of dredges such as cutter suction dredges, hopper dredges, backhoe dredges and split hull vessels as well as product development for pumps, cutter heads, spud carriage systems, other dredging equipment and calculation tools.
Marine Engineer

Andre Kik

Active in the maritime industry for more than 28 years. André graduated as a naval architect with a master in Ship Design and was awarded for the best graduation project on the basis of exceptional academic achievements. During his career André has been involved in the dredging industry for more than 28 years. He held several executive management positions for production office, product management, design and estimating department, product development department, marketing and sales. As a naval architect André has been responsible for concept designs for various types of dredgers such as (self-propelled) cutter suction dredgers and (split) hopper dredgers. André has been responsible for the accounts of the Dutch and Belgium contractors and clients in Europe and Asia for more than 15 years.
Mechanical Engineer

Meindert Zwanenburg

Active in the dredging business for more than 25 years. Meindert graduated as a mechanical engineer with a master in Dredging Technology. Already at the age of 14, Meindert started working with dredging equipment at small scale dredging company ‘Vis Baggerwerken’ and has been involved in the dredging industry since then. After his graduation he has worked almost 20 years for Royal IHC at ‘IHC Beaver Dredgers’. He started as an engineer, has been cost estimator for several years and has been responsible for the CSD design and estimation department at IHC for more than 12 years. As such he was involved in all the cutter suction dredgers (as well as component packages) and related equipment, delivered by IHC, since then up to beginning 2021.
